Hup Kee Fried Oyster Omelette (Newton Food Centre)

Welcome to Hup Kee Fried Oyster Omelette in Singapore. Hup Kee Fried Oyster is well-known not just because it was featured in “Crazy Rich Asians”. This fried oyster stall has a long history that began in 1966 when it started at Glutton Square, a famous street food spot in Orchard. Later, in the early ’70s, it relocated to its current place in Newton Food Centre.

However, You might find a lot of people waiting in line at the food stall, especially if you go there during busy meal times. They are well-known for their delicious “orh luak,” which has the perfect mix of crunchy egg, chewy starch, and juicy oysters. What’s unique is that they don’t use pork or lard in their cooking.

Did You Choose Your Meal From The Menu?

My lovable dish is Oyster omelets. Oyster omelets are known for their intense flavors and benefit from a tangy chili dip. The one at Hup Kee is just right, with spiciness and a generous splash of calamansi juice for extra zing. Hup Kee has another great feature: its tasty chili sauce.

Still the best oyster omelette so far in Singapore! Love the huge fresh oysters and the crispy eggs. Though wait can be long but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Great oyster omelette, crispy eggs and topped with lots of oysters and a really tasty chilli sauce on the side. There’s no queue to line up for it because of the buzzer system, but had to wait almost an hour for my order to be ready. Definitely was worth the wait because the omelette was so good!

Well-fried and crispy. Oysters are decent-sized and adequate in quantity. Ordered the small 8 dollar version and it is a good size in my view. Certainly enough to satisfy one's oyster omelette craving for one person. The Chinese parsley is fresh and adds a nice touch to cut down the richness of the dish. The chilli is sour and spicy and does lift the dish by giving it more dimensions in taste.

Worst tasting fried oyster I ever tried. Only tried because of the “best” label. Turned out to be the opposite 😩. Never trusting food reviews again.

I rank this place one of the top 3 oyster egg in Singapore. Always a long wait, but definitely worth the wait. I once packet it home and it still tasted delicious. Huge oysters with crispy egg. A must to order if dining in Newton Circus.
