Welcome to Heng Carrot Cake in Singapore. Newton Food Centre just finished getting a makeover and is back in business after three months of changes. One stall that quickly became super popular is Heng Carrot Cake. People are lining up for their delicious food. They serve yummy dishes like Newton Oyster Omelette, Carrot Cakes or Oyster Eggs.

Moreover, the cakes of these stalls are loved because they use soft and almost fluffy kueh in their black and white carrot cakes. Oyster Omelette is filled with plump, tasty oysters and a stir-fried egg that’s not too heavy with starch. To start your healthy breakfast you must try Newton Oyster Omelette or Oyster Egg that will satisfy your palate.
Have You Picked Your Favourite Dish from the Menu?
I like a few dishes: Black carrot cake is my favorite dish, fried without prawns but sweetened with caramel soya sauce. Try pairing your carrot cake with tasty or luak from Hup Kee Fried Oyster. Once you try this mashup, you will never be disappointed. Please look at our Newton Food Centre Best Stall to find tasty food at the famous Hawker centre.
ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS. The lady boss told her husband that he added too much ($6 portion) when I had ordered a $4 portion. The husband then proceeded to place half of my order back into the wok. ALL THIS WAS DONE RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE.
Not the most picturesque but for sure one of the tastiest. Each plate is served fresh with perfect smokiness from the wok hei. I ate the black carrot cake (with soya sauce) but there are more menu available for your own choosing.
Person who handled their store was very rude. She told us to hurry up even if we weren’t slow. When we ordered, she told us to hurry up (we weren’t doing anything slow). When we got our food, she also told us to hurry up even if we didnt do anything slow. Her expressions also look mad and not inviting. The only reason we wanted to try this stall was for the hype. People in line were also told the same and some even weren’t comfortable already. Carrot cake and oyster cake were just normal. Nothing special. Don’t waste your time here. They don’t deserve the Michelin tbh. There’s so many better stalls in newton that taste better and have friendlier staff
Got the medium carrot cake black and white mixed. $6. Each serving was made to order, and they bring it to your table. The carrot cake was fluffy, but with crispy bits and unmistakable wok-hey. Not sure if it was Michelin worthy, but it certainly was tasty and for a humble carrot cake, it’s done really well. Would come again.
I waited for 40 minutes on a Sunday evening for their fried carrot cake and it was well worth the wait. I am surprised to find out that their carrot cake was steamed fresh in the stall. What is magical and different is that the carrot cake is so soft that it feels like fried Chwee Kueh (steamed rice cake) but full of radish flavour. Do not judge a book by its cover that it looks a plate of messy stuff. It tastes many times better than the usual carrot cake. Another thing that makes it special is that it is no pork and no lard, but as true blue foodie who likes my fried pork lard, I can’t tell at all. I saw that the Newton Food Centre will be closed from 1 Nov 2022 to 31 Jan 2023. So if you hope to catch them, you know what to do.
Came by to Newton food centre decided to give the Orh Jian AKA Oyster Omelette a try. Ordered a small portion of $6. Food came faster than expected though was told the waiting time was much longer when ordering. The texture of the egg bits was missing the tapioca starch. Maybe my portion had lesser of it. The eggs were normal neither oily nor crispy. Size of the oysters are average and tasted fresh. The chilli is has a nice balance of spicy and tangy taste which is perfect with Orh Jian. Would come back to try their carrot cake next time.
